about
THE AFRICAN MUSEUM OF COLLECTIVE WISDOM
The African Museum of Collective Wisdom is a different kind of museum: part archive, part exhibition, part invitation. It’s a living archive that exists to hold the stories, knowledge, and cultural memory of Africa and its Diaspora. The museum is built on the belief that our past matters, our present has power, and our future is something we create together.
Rooted in African ways of knowing, we collect and curate the tangible and intangible: oral histories, artistic expressions, cultural artifacts, community wisdom, and visionary practices that honor the past, present, and future. We gather what might otherwise be lost.
Through digital archives, exhibitions, participatory installations, and community programs, the Museum creates space for memory, creativity, and dialogue across generations and geographies.
The Museum is part of the Bakani Foundation. By collecting, preserving, and showcasing African and diasporic legacies and innovations, the museum directly supports the foundation’s mission of harnessing the power of education, dialogue, culture, and the arts to reimagine Africa and the Diaspora.
Founder and Creative Director, Lynette Sifiso, curates the museum and archives.
